Ryan Jenkins' dad: My VH1 reality son hated blood, was incapable of violence
"If my son was guilty, he was crazy," said Dan Jenkins, a prominent Calgary architect. "The boy we knew was not capable of anything remotely close to this act. You talk to everyone here who knew him before he went down there and they’ll talk about a wonderful young man, a thoughtful man." The older Jenkins added that he “would faint at the sight of blood."

MTV's "Skins" aims to be the anti-"Gossip Girl" — without UK version's nudity

MTV promised the edgy UK drama won't be softened for the United States, though it won't contain nudity like the original version and certain four letter words will be taken out. The new "Skins" may also get a late-night slot. Executive producer Charlie Pattinson said he wants to make sure "Skins" continues to be "the absolute opposite of 'Gossip Girl.'" ("Skins" debuted about eight months before "Gossip Girl," in January 2007.) "While obviously there are going to have to be cultural changes, we wanted to not to water it down too much or you end up with a mellow generic teen show and that would be a waste of time and money for everyone," he said.

MTV remaking "Skins" in Baltimore — but will it keep nudity, profanity, drug use?

The edgy British drama that stars actual teenagers with writers who are mostly in their early 20s will be remade using much of the same formula. But will the "Skins" format fly on basic cable when it showcases teens having very graphic sex, using drugs, swearing constantly and smoking cigarettes with little or no repercussions? "Skins" airing on BBC America already is  censored for the U.S. audience, with a lot of what made it unique omitted. (Watch the raunchy trailers for "Skins" Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3.)

"Nurse Jackie" ends a compelling 1st season having evolved

The Showtime series, says Matthew Gilbert, has "evolved into a piercing psychological portrait of a fractured soul whose compassion for her patients never extends to herself. Addicted to painkillers and mired in an adulterous affair, yet quite brave and stoic, Jackie emerged one of TV’s most sympathetic messes."
