"SNL" adds 2 female comediennes
Jenny Slate, a "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" veteran, and Nasim Pedrad, a former "ER" nurse and an Iranian-American from the Groundlings troupe, will join the "Saturday Night Live" cast this fall. Slate was one of the stars of Fallon's "7th Floor West" reality spoof, playing a network page and Jimmy's assistant. Pedrad played "Nurse Suri" on several "ER" episodes, and had her own one-woman show called "Me, Myself & Iran." Both comediennes began work this week on "SNL's" 35th season.


"Idol" signs Danny Gokey to record deal — now all of the Final 4 have "Idol" label deals

Gokey will sing country tunes as "Idol" label 19 Recordings has, for the first, opted to sign all Final four "Idols."

HBO greenlights Scorsese's "Boardwalk Empire"
Eleven episodes of the series starring Steve Buscemi, Michael K. Williams, Dabney Coleman and Kelly Macdonald have been ordered. "Boardwalk" was created by "Sopranos" writer Terrence Winter, with Martin Scorsese producing and directing the pilot, and Mark Wahlberg also producing.
