Jay Leno: NBC wanted me out in 2007
“Actually, they wanted me out in three years,” Leno reveals to the NY Times. “I had to argue to get the other two. Oh, yeah. I said: ‘Let’s make it five. You want me out? I’ll do five.’" But, according to NB late-night boss Rick Ludwin, “That is definitely not my recollection… Maybe Jay heard from someone else something to that effect."

And NBC must be thanking God for giving them evidence of their argument that The Jay Leno Show will be a hit because it can comment on watercooler topics."
