NBC gets Matthew Broderick to star in a Lorne Michaels sitcom
The acclaimed actor of stage and (big) screen is set to star in "Beach Lane," a multicamera pilot from Lorne Michaels and "NewsRadio" creator Paul Simms. Broderick will play a "celebrity author hired by an irresponsible millionaire heir to run his struggling small-town newspaper in the Hamptons." His decision to do a sitcom follows Broderick's guest stint on Michaels' "30 Rock."


"The Situation" trademark sought

It's unclear if Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino has any connections to the two trademarks filed for his "Jersey Shore" name. As The Smoking Gun notes, though, there hasn't been a trademark filed for Snooki. PLUS: Italian-American group upset that "Jersey Shore" was renewed.


Matthew Fox reiterates that he's done with TV — Evangeline Lilly done acting?

Last March, Fox told reporters "I'm pretty sure that ('Lost') will be the last television thing that I will do." Nearly a year later, Fox is sitting firm on his decision. Meanwhile, Lilly says she's not passionate about acting and she might quit the profession after "Lost" is done.

"Jersey Shore" could be headed to Miami, the Hamptons or, possibly, Malibu
Among the options for Season are South Beach and the Hamptons. There's also talk of Malibu becoming the new "Jersey" home. Meanwhile, MTV didn't exactly "cave" to the cast's money demands, according to Bill Zwecker, who points out that the network always intended to offer $10,000 an episode. "Naturally, we started at $5,000, but ten grand was always the number we knew we'd have to hit to keep that group," a source tells him.
