NBC gets Matthew Broderick to star in a Lorne Michaels sitcom
The acclaimed actor of stage and (big) screen is set to star in "Beach Lane," a multicamera pilot from Lorne Michaels and "NewsRadio" creator Paul Simms. Broderick will play a "celebrity author hired by an irresponsible millionaire heir to run his struggling small-town newspaper in the Hamptons." His decision to do a sitcom follows Broderick's guest stint on Michaels' "30 Rock."
"The Situation" trademark sought
It's unclear if Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino has any connections to the two trademarks filed for his "Jersey Shore" name. As The Smoking Gun notes, though, there hasn't been a trademark filed for Snooki. PLUS: Italian-American group upset that "Jersey Shore" was renewed.
