Rupert Murdoch: I'd hire Conan O'Brien "in a flash," but…
The News Corp boss said there are "no real negotiations" between Fox and Conan, at least so far. But he did say in a conference call today: "If the programming people can show us we can do it … and make a profit, we would do it in a flash."

The pilot revolves around a family of scoundrels and is based on New Zealand's "Outrageous Fortune."


HBO signs Zooey Deschanel for "Confessions of a Groupie"

The half-hour pilot dramatizes the Pamela Des Barres' groupie memoir, in which she describes sleeping with Mick Jagger, Don Johnson and Jimmy Page.

His appearance will be spread over Wednesday and Thursday's shows.


CW picks up 3 pilots: One from Tom Welling, one from Hayden Panettiere

The Panettiere-produced "HMS" follows students at Harvard Med school, while Welling's "Hellcats" goes into the world of competitive college cheerleading. CW has ordered "Betwixt," which revolves around "changelings" saving humans from evil.
