Fox inching toward a Conan deal, with Ruper Murdoch's blessing
Murdoch is on board, but Fox is trying to figure out a way to make a new Conan talk show work, including a budget reduction from the $90 million a year NBC spent to about $60 million a year. Other factors include the 11 o'clock timeslot (which won't always be available) and the use of a soundstage (NBC is willing to lease back Conan's old "Tonight" digs). One thing is for sure, though: Conan isn't moving to Comedy Central, which already has its own late-night lineup.
