"Treme" is NOT "The Wire"
The New York Times Magazine paid a visit to the New Orleans-set HBO show, where "Treme" is not "The Wire" has become a mantra. "It’s a disclaimer repeated nearly verbatim by so many members of the 'Treme' production staff that it could sound like a talking point — until you actually watch the show," writes Wyatt Mason. "Whereas through its five seasons 'The Wire' built a vivid portrait of urban America as seen through the prism of its institutions and professions — the police department, the drug trade, the dockworkers, the local government, the schools, the press — 'Treme,' though no less focused on the workings and failings of 21st-century American urban existence, tells its story not through a city’s institutions but through its individuals." PLUS: Anatomy of a "Treme" scene and a "Treme" slideshow.

The answer is, you cross that bridge when you come to it. I’m in it for the long haul." PLUS: Walton Goggins wasn't supposed to last this long.
