"Treme" is NOT "The Wire"
The New York Times Magazine paid a visit to the New Orleans-set HBO show, where "Treme" is not "The Wire" has become a mantra. "It’s a disclaimer repeated nearly verbatim by so many members of the 'Treme' production staff that it could sound like a talking point — until you actually watch the show," writes Wyatt Mason. "Whereas through its five seasons 'The Wire' built a vivid portrait of urban America as seen through the prism of its institutions and professions — the police department, the drug trade, the dockworkers, the local government, the schools, the press — 'Treme,' though no less focused on the workings and failings of 21st-century American urban existence, tells its story not through a city’s institutions but through its individuals." PLUS: Anatomy of a "Treme" scene and a "Treme" slideshow.

The answer is, you cross that bridge when you come to it. I’m in it for the long haul." PLUS: Walton Goggins wasn't supposed to last this long.

Eric Ditzian seems to thinks so: "While Randy continues to contribute zilch to each evening's debate, Simon zaps in his commentary from a mind already busy decorating his 'X Factor' set and Ellen DeGeneres remains unable to give contestants anything but gooey word-snuggles, Kara has emerged as the panel's most engaging voice. FX has created an intriguing American hero with "Justified"
Timothy Olyphant's acting in 'Justified' is so great that it strips away the notion that maybe he's so damn likable because of his all-too-short stint on HBO's classic Western series 'Deadwood,'" says Tim Goodman, who adds that FX has made Olyphant's character iconic: "The best news of all is that Olyphant backs it up with an incredibly riveting performance. Better yet, 'Justified' as a whole really delivers, from the explosive pilot to a couple of other, less adrenaline-filled but no less superb episodes that add humor and nuanced storytelling to the mix."
