"30 Rock" will do a live episode from "SNL" studio — for each coast
NBC today announced that Studio 8H will be home to the special live episode, airing Oct. 14. "Tina is up for it, were just doing as much as we can to garner attention for the shows and stay true to them creatively," says NBC entertainment boss Angela Bromstad. The comedy, she says, will do "a West Coast original and an East Coast original and yes we did ask (them to do it)."

Report: "Idol" dumps Kara DioGuardi
"American Idol" won't renew Kara DioGuardi's contract for a 3rd season, according to TMZ, which means that Randy Jackson is the last judge standing after Ellen's departure. Says TMZ: "We're told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalized, the judge's panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. We're told the only way Kara could get a reprieve is if the J-Lo deal falls apart — but we're told that deal is done."

Was Ellen pushed out of "Idol"?
Ellen DeGeneres, Fox and "American Idol" producers insist leaving was Ellen's decision, yet just last week her reps told The Hollywood Reporter she was willing to return. And according to the Washington Post reports, "Sources say the suits behind the scene wanted her gone. But, on Thursday, they handed her the knife, issuing a statement saying DeGeneres 'has decided to bow out from her role as a judge on 'American Idol' next season' which included a quote from Ellen in which she said that a couple of month ago she told Fox and the show's producers she didn't think she was "the right fit" for the show."

Ellen DeGeneres just released a statement saying she's bowing out, saying that she couldn't handle the workload and hurting the feelings of aspiring singers: "A couple months ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” she says in a statement. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for.”

With Season 2's debut, we now see "Jersey Shore" in a whole different light than when it debuted just before Christmas, says Hank Stuever. "The key to 'Jersey Shore's' charm is that it's not a social study," he says. "As stupid as it looks, and as much as you can hate yourself for watching, it's a complex show about the nature of sin. There's a tendency to examine it too cerebrally in that regard, to think of "Jersey Shore" as pure performance art. Sometimes critics can be wrong in typing too many words."

If he was being honest to a TMZ photog, the Hall of Fame QB will become the 3rd member of the Dallas Cowboys "triplets" to go "Dancing," following in the footsteps of Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith. Aikman, who will likely dance in the spring because of his busy NFL on Fox schedule, is also join former coach Jimmy Johnson in the reality arena.

Report: ABC entertainment boss resigned amid sex harassment probe
Steve McPherson quit yesterday as ABC was investigating multiple harassment claims made by females executives against the ABC entertainment president, according to the Hollywood Reporter. McPherson's attorney, while not addressing any specifics, released a statement saying: "It is not uncommon for high level executives to be the subject of gossip and innuendo. That would include rumors of internal situations which can easily be misinterpreted or misrepresented."

Obama tells "The View": I've never heard of Snooki
"I'm sorry, I don't know who that is," President Obama said when asked about the "Jersey Shore" star, according to several audience members (watch a preview). "We all liked that he didn't know who she was," said audience member Nella Cerminara.  During his visit today, which will air tomorrow, Obama was also asked a "pointed question" about jobs from Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Former "Late Night" stage manager Paul Tarascio filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission alleging that he was fired from his job because Fallon "just prefers to take direction from a woman." In his complaint, Tarascio, who also worked for Conan O'Brien's "Late Night," claims that Fallon only allowed females to place microphones on him, and that he would only allow a man if there were no females available.

"Hawaii Five-0" is a reboot, not a remake

"'Remake' suggests doing the exact same thing again," says Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote last year's "Star Trek" "reboot." But the new "Five-0," like the new "Trek," is a modern take with the same spirit of the original franchise. "We had to make sure we stayed true to the spirit of the show but brings something new to the table that a modern audience would recognize," he says. "That's why the word 'reboot' feels more appropriate."
