Next year's final 15 episodes will be the last for the Kyra Sedgwick drama, which proved to be a game-changer for TNT. "The Closer was a pivotal series in setting a new course for TNT’s original programming, while also serving as a prime example of the storytelling strength possible on cable television," says Turner Entertainment Network boss Steve Koonin. Adds Sedgwick: "I cannot fathom how difficult it will be to say goodbye to the incredible family we’ve created on "The Closer.'"
"At least that's our hope," Pudi says of tonight's episode, which actually originated from ousted NBC entertainment boss Jeff Gaspin. "There are our moments of absurdity, but it's all really grounded in reality," says Pudi. "The script is really, really funny and really sharp, but also kind of goes to these places where I think with the stop motion we're able to go a little bit further in terms of even emotional depth and some of the sadness of the characters, too."

ABC tonight airs the annual special, which producer-director Lee Mendelson calls "the best idea I've had in my entire life." Mendelson got the idea after making a documentary on Mays, the best baseball player in the world. "So," he says, "I decided to make a documentary about the worst baseball player in the world." That would be Charlie Brown.
