"Idol" switches from Letterman to Leno for late-night exit interviews
Last year, each week's ousted "Idol" would appear on Letterman. But starting Friday, they'll appear each Friday on "The Tonight Show." PLUS: RyanSeacrest.com grades the "Idols."


AMC decided last October to bring "Mad Men" back in March 2012

That's according to Matthew Weiner: "It was decided in October that the show would be back on in March of 2012," says the "Mad Men" creator. "AMC is launching four shows – it was always decided on for March of 2012. I made it a negotiation point I wanted it on this year, and they told me that was impossible."

Matthew Weiner: I'm ending "Mad Men" after 3 more seasons
Season 7 will be the AMC series' last, Weiner says in wake of his new deal with AMC and Lionsgate. "I think that's how long the story is," he tells TV Guide. "I'm not 'The Simpsons.' They're amazing. I don't know how they do it. I look at TV shows that I admire, and I think this is the length that they should be. At a certain point you're driven to a desire not to repeat yourself. I want the show to end before the machinery has worn out."

"Mad Men" deal is done: Matthew Weiner signs on for 2 more years
There will be no cuts to the cast and Season 5 won't likely debut till March 2012, but Weiner and AMC opted to compromise on the issue of cutting episodes short. As the LA Times reports, "The first and last episodes of the upcoming fifth season will run at 47 minutes and the rest of the episodes will run at 45 minutes. Weiner will have the option to make those other episodes at 47 minutes for other platforms including video on demand, DVD and iTunes." Weiner also signed a long-term deal with Lionsgate that will make a 7th season highly likely.

"Mad Men" Season 5 OK'd for early 2012 — despite no Matthew Weiner deal
AMC is going ahead with Season 5, even though it's still in negotiations with the "Mad Men" creator. The network says in a  statement, "AMC has officially authorized production of season 5 of Mad Men, triggering our option with Lionsgate.  While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key non-cast negotiations, Mad Men will be back for a fifth season in early 2012."


Oprah's old studio is going to Rosie O'Donnell

"I just wanted to say hi, and I'm coming to Chicago," Rosie said on her blog. "It's a huge thrill for me, and I'm beyond the beyond."

Negotiations with Matthew Weiner are being held up on three points, according to Deadline Hollywood: AMC and Lionsgate wants Weiner to drop 2 cast members, cut two minutes from each episode and integrate product placement into the series. Weiner is objecting to all three points.
