"Mister Rogers" gets an animated spinoff: "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood"
PBS plans to begin airing "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" in fall 2012, starring the 4-year-old son of Daniel Striped Tiger. The series, which has been in the works since 2006, will feature a mix of animated and live-action segments. It has been commissioned for 40 episodes with the animated kids of other "Mister Rogers" regulars, including King Friday's Prince Wednesday, Lady Elaine's Miss Elaina, Henrietta Pussycat's Katerina Kittycat and X the Owl's nephew, O the Owl. "I just got goose bumps right away," says Fred Rogers' widow, Joanne Rogers, adding: "Daniel is just so cute. I can't imagine everybody won't love him, and I'm delighted in any case." Jenny McCarthy dumps Oprah for NBC
