"Last Man Standing" with Tim Allen is about 35 years out of date
It's just not funny, says Glenn Garvin, who adds: "With tediously unfunny scripts and a listless cast that looks as if it can barely wait for the director to shout 'Cut!' so it can head en masse to the unemployment office, 'Last Man Standing' is some kind of voracious video parasite that sucks out all intellect, sense of purpose or will to live. Even the laugh track sounds thin and nervous, as if ABC executives are holding guns to the heads of the Modern Family cast just off-camera, threatening to shoot them all unless the 'Last Man Standing' studio audience produces a few titters."
It is hammily acted, lousily written and shoddily designed
Women won't like it, and neither will men // Just plain bad
You can hear the audience not laughing // It's a little sad
Give Allen credit for being on top of his sitcom game
Allen: "I'm not really reinventing the wheel here — this is just what I like to do"
